What will the apprentice be doing on site

We have an interesting and diverse opportunity for an apprentice to join a local family run construction business. The team specialises in restorative work on Churches, listed and ancient buildings, but is equally involved in general construction and bricklaying projects.
The successful applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Bricklayer qualification and will be involved in:

• Laying bricks and blocks
• Mortar preparation and application by hand and using mechanical mixers
• Construction of walls
• Restoration of walls, arches, foundations and other brick and stone built structures such as chimney stacks
• Working sympathetically and to guided plans for listed and ancient structures
• Interpreting drawings and plans
• Flint work
• Stonework
• Using hand and power tools
• General labouring
• Other construction tasks when needed

Are there restrictions

The successful applicant will need to take the CSCS Health and Safety Operatives test. We can support the successful candidate with the purchase of the card.

This role is subject to a Drugs & Alcohol test.
