What will the apprentice be doing on site

We have a fantastic opportunity for an apprentice to join a specialist grower who produces high quality plants for the specialist and domestic horticultural market.

Working across two sites the apprentice will be involved in:

Planting rootstocks
Pest and weed identification and control
Propagation using grafting and cuttings.
Plant identification.
Lifting crops.
Maintaining nursery and potting areas
Maintaining and care of machinery and tools and structures.
Potting and standing out pots
Packing and despatch of plants.
Record keeping of stock levels etc.

What sort of candidate are you looking for

This will involve working in all weather conditions and is also sometimes physically demanding so the right applicant will be able to work outside in all weathers.

We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in horticulture or gardening and is wanting to develop further a passion for the sector. They must be physically fit and willing to work in a group or on their own, have a good level of numeracy and literacy and be able to communicate well.
Due to location, they must bring own food and drink for the day and make own way to and from site so own transport will be required.
